Refuge From Shame
A prayer for shame, from Psalm 57:1
Have mercy on me, have mercy on me: the psalmist says it twice because once wasn't enough that day. Some shame is like weather that has to be sheltered through, not argued with. A prayer for taking cover until the storm passes.
Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. Psalm 57:1 (NIV)
The prayer
Lord, have mercy on me. I take refuge in You from shame and disgrace. Cover me with Your love and faithfulness until this storm passes.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
