3 prayers from this passage, for betrayal, grief, shame
Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. Psalm 57:1 (NIV)
What was going on when this was written
Written in a cave, hiding from a king. The refuge described is shelter until a storm passes over, not escape from the storm. The psalm does not claim the disaster was avoided.
