Under Your Wings

A prayer for betrayal, from Psalm 57:1

The man who first prayed this was hiding in a cave from a king everyone called God's anointed. When the danger comes from someone holy on paper, you need shelter that has nothing to do with him. This prayer is for the middle of it, while the worst is still passing over.

Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. Psalm 57:1 (NIV)

The prayer

Lord, have mercy on me. I take refuge in the shadow of Your wings until the disaster of this betrayal passes. Hide me under Your protection.

Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
