The Lord Has Become My Fortress

A prayer for loneliness, from Psalm 94:22

This psalm was written under corrupt authority, people in power harming the ones they were supposed to protect. If that's familiar ground, notice the tense: God became a fortress. When the structure that should have kept you safe turned dangerous, he turned out to be the stronghold it never was.

But the Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. Psalm 94:22 (NIV)

The prayer

God, in my isolation You have become my fortress. You are the rock in whom I take refuge. You support me with Your unfailing love.

Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
