The Advocate
A prayer for loneliness, from John 14:26-27
Without a pastor or a small group, who reminds you of what's true late at night when your faith runs thin? Jesus answered that the night before he died, promising his friends a helper who would teach them from the inside. You didn't lose access to being taught when you lost the building.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. John 14:26-27 (NIV)
The prayer
Father, You have sent the Holy Spirit to be with me. I am not alone—the Advocate teaches me and reminds me of Your truth. Your peace fills the void of loneliness.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
