Saved Out of Troubles
A prayer for loneliness, from Psalm 34:6
David wrote this after hitting bottom: on the run, faking madness to stay alive, hiding in a cave with his old life gone. The poor man in the verse is David at his loneliest. What he found there wasn't an audience or an explanation, it was a God who heard him.
This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. Psalm 34:6 (NIV)
The prayer
God, I am poor and lonely, but I call to You. Hear me and save me out of all my troubles. Your angel encamps around me.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
