My Strength and Defense
A prayer for loneliness, from Isaiah 12:2-4
When you left, some people believed a version of the story that made you the problem, and no one stood up to say otherwise. Isaiah's song is for that undefended feeling. God takes up the role nobody filled: strength when you're spent, defense when no one will speak for you.
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. Isaiah 12:2-4 (NIV)
The prayer
Father, in my isolation, be my strength and my defense. You have become my salvation. I will trust You and not be afraid, even when I feel utterly alone.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
