In Him All Things Hold Together

A prayer for betrayal, from Colossians 1:15-17

A pastor falls, or a church turns on you, and it can feel like your whole faith is coming apart with it. This passage puts Christ above every ruler and authority, including the religious kind. A prayer for when you need to know that what holds your life together never depended on them.

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:15-17 (NIV)

The prayer

Lord Jesus, when betrayal has shattered my world, I hold onto this truth: in You all things hold together. You are before all things, and nothing is outside Your authority. Even when human leaders fail, You remain the image of the invisible God, holding my broken pieces together.

Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
