Wait for the Lord
A prayer for shame, from Psalm 27:14
This is a prayer for the long middle, when the shame hasn't lifted yet and hiding still feels safer than hoping. Waiting for the Lord isn't passive; it's holding a position. Be strong, take heart, and wait.
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:14 (NIV)
The prayer
Lord, when shame makes me want to hide, I will wait for You. I am confident I will see Your goodness in the land of the living. I will be strong and take heart.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
