He Will Never Leave

When someone has just left

A prayer from Deuteronomy 31:8

Grief has a way of emptying the room until it feels like it's just you in there. This promise was spoken to someone facing something he couldn't imagine surviving: he goes before you, he will be with you, he will never leave. A prayer for taking it personally.

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)

The prayer

Lord, in my grief I feel so alone, but You promise to never leave me or forsake me. You go before me into each day. Help me not be afraid or discouraged, for You are with me.

Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
