Do Not Be Afraid

When you are facing something alone

A prayer from Deuteronomy 31:8

Do not be afraid lands differently depending on who says it. Here it comes with a reason attached: the Lord himself goes before you and will be with you. A prayer for gripping the promise part when the command part feels out of reach.

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)

The prayer

Father, You command me not to be afraid or discouraged because You are with me. You go before me and will never forsake me. In my fear, I cling to this promise.

Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
