Refuge and Strength
A prayer for fear & anxiety, from Psalm 46:1-3
This psalm imagines the worst honestly: earth giving way, mountains falling into the sea. Its refusal to fear isn't denial; it's an address, God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help. A prayer for when the ground itself feels unreliable.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way. Psalm 46:1-3 (NIV)
The prayer
Father, You are my refuge and strength. I will not fear though the mountains shake and the waters roar. You are an ever-present help in my trouble.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
