Not Crushed

A prayer for fear & anxiety, from 2 Corinthians 4:8-18

Fear can press in from every direction at once until pressed is exactly how you'd describe your chest. This passage holds the honest tension: hard pressed, yes, but not crushed. A prayer for staying uncrushed while the pressure is real.

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 2 Corinthians 4:8-18 (NIV)

The prayer

Father, fear presses in on every side, but I will not be crushed. I may be perplexed, but I will not fall into despair. Help me fix my eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. The unseen is eternal, and You are renewing me day by day.

Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
