Psalm 46:1-3

2 prayers from this passage, for grief, fear & anxiety

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea. Psalm 46:1-3 (NIV)

What was going on when this was written

Written about a city under threat. The comfort offered is not that the mountains stay put. It says explicitly that they might not, and that God is present anyway.
