Confidence Through Christ

A prayer for doubt, from 2 Corinthians 3:4-6

Doubt has a way of turning inward until it's not just about God but about you, whether you have anything left to offer at all. Paul's answer is strangely freeing: you never were the source. This is a prayer for standing on borrowed confidence when your own has run out.

Such confidence we have through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:4-6 (NIV)

The prayer

God, when doubt whispers that I have nothing to offer, anchor me in this truth: my confidence comes through Christ before You. I don't need to have it all figured out. The Spirit gives life even when I feel spiritually dry.

Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
