Rooted in Love
A prayer for betrayal, from Ephesians 3:14-21
Maybe you learned about God's love from people who later hurt you, and now the two feel tangled together. Paul's prayer here asks for something untangled: strength on the inside, and a firsthand grasp of a love bigger than anyone who mishandled it. Pray it for yourself when secondhand love has failed you.
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. Ephesians 3:14-21 (NIV)
The prayer
Father, after betrayal has uprooted me, I ask You to root and establish me in Your love. Strengthen me with power through Your Spirit. Help me grasp how wide and long and high and deep Christ's love truly is.
