Rise Up Against the Wicked

A prayer for betrayal, from Psalm 94:16-17

Sometimes what stings most is everyone who saw it and said nothing. This psalm is for the moment you realize no one is coming to defend you, and it points to the One who already has. By the writer's own account, God's help was the only thing that kept him from going under.

Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers? Unless the Lord had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death. Psalm 94:16-17 (NIV)

The prayer

Lord, who will rise up for me against those who have wronged me? Unless You had helped me, I would have been silenced. You have become my fortress.

Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.

If this is where you are, these may help too
