In the Presence of Enemies
A prayer for betrayal, from Psalm 23:5
The people who hurt you may never apologize, and some of them still stand in front of congregations. This verse says God's goodness to you is not on hold until they change. He can set a full life in front of you while they are still watching.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Psalm 23:5 (NIV)
The prayer
Lord, You prepare a table before me in the presence of those who have betrayed me. You anoint my head with oil. My cup overflows with Your goodness despite the wounds.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
