God Longs to Be Gracious
A prayer for betrayal, from Isaiah 30:18
After church people wrong you, two questions sit side by side: does God still want me, and will anyone ever answer for this? This verse holds both, showing a God eager to be kind to you who also takes what happened seriously as a matter of justice. Waiting on Him is not waiting on nothing.
Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him! Isaiah 30:18 (NIV)
The prayer
Lord, You long to be gracious to me. After experiencing betrayal, I need to know that You are a God of justice and compassion. Help me wait for You, trusting that You will rise up on my behalf.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
