Do Not Drag Me Away
A prayer for betrayal, from Psalm 28:3
Some of the deepest church wounds come from people who were warm to your face and cruel out of your sight. David knew that kind of person three thousand years ago, and this psalm names them without blinking. Pray it when you need God to keep you clear of them, and unlike them.
Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who do evil, who speak cordially with their neighbors but harbor malice in their hearts. Psalm 28:3 (NIV)
The prayer
Lord, protect me from those who speak kindly but harbor malice. You see their hypocrisy. Do not drag me away with the wicked.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
