Throne of Grace
A prayer for anger, from Hebrews 4:15-16
Anger this hot usually gets one of two treatments: stuff it down or let it burn whoever's closest. This prayer takes the third road, carrying the rage straight to a throne of grace, to someone who was tempted in every way and won't flinch at yours.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:15-16 (NIV)
The prayer
Jesus, You understand my anger and frustration. You were tempted in every way, yet without sin. I bring my rage to Your throne of grace, confident that You will give me mercy and grace to handle these emotions righteously.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
