Not Alone in Weakness

A prayer for loneliness, from Hebrews 4:15-16

Half the exhaustion of being alone is having to explain yourself when someone finally asks. This passage says Jesus doesn't need the explanation. He has felt what you feel from the inside, so you can come to God exactly as you are, with no case prepared, and expect mercy instead of a lecture.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:15-16 (NIV)

The prayer

Lord, in my loneliness I remember that You understand isolation. You were forsaken so I would never be. I approach Your throne knowing You empathize with my weakness and will provide grace for my need.

Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
