Psalm 27:10

2 prayers from this passage, for betrayal, loneliness

Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. Psalm 27:10 (NIV)

What was going on when this was written

The psalm names the worst case out loud, father and mother forsaking you, and does not soften it, explain it, or tell you to excuse them. It says only that being unwanted by the people who should have wanted you is not the final word on whether you are wanted.
