You Are With Me
A prayer for loneliness, from Psalm 23:4
Right at the darkest stretch, this psalm changes voice: before the valley David talks about God at a little distance, but inside it he speaks to him directly. That's the quiet claim here, that the lowest part of the walk isn't where God drops back. It's where he comes nearest.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Psalm 23:4 (NIV)
The prayer
Lord, in my deepest loneliness, You are with me. I am never alone. Your rod and staff comfort me. Goodness and love will follow me all my days.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
