In heavy grief, something is going to govern the household of your thoughts, and by default it will be the sorrow. This short verse proposes a quiet coup: let the peace of Christ rule instead. A prayer for handing over the gavel.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15 (NIV)
The prayer
Lord, let the peace of Christ rule in my grieving heart. Even in despair, I choose to be thankful. Help Your peace govern my emotions and thoughts as I navigate this sorrow.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today.
Amen can wait until you mean it.
