A weaned child with its mother has stopped fussing for anything; it's calm because of who's holding it. This psalm reaches for that: I have calmed and quieted myself. A prayer for the overthinking mind, aiming at contentment instead of answers.
But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. Psalm 131:2 (NIV)
The prayer
Father, help me calm and quiet my anxious soul. Like a weaned child content with its mother, I rest in You. My heart is not proud; I find peace in simplicity.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today.
Amen can wait until you mean it.
