Patient in Understanding
A prayer for anger, from Proverbs 14:29
Quick-tempered is a hard thing to admit, and this prayer admits it in the first sentence. If your fuse has gotten shorter than you want it to be, and the people around you are paying for it, this is an honest place to start.
Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly. Proverbs 14:29 (NIV)
The prayer
Lord, I confess I have been quick-tempered. Give me patience and understanding. Help me not display folly through unchecked anger.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
