You Saw My Affliction
A prayer for grief, from Psalm 31:7
One of grief's quiet cruelties is feeling unseen, like the anguish happened and nobody was watching. This psalm says otherwise: you saw my affliction, you knew the anguish of my soul. A prayer for being known in the worst of it.
I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul. Psalm 31:7 (NIV)
The prayer
Father, I will be glad and rejoice in Your love, for You saw my affliction. You knew the anguish of my soul. You have set my feet in a spacious place.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
