Nothing Can Separate
A prayer for grief, from Romans 8:38-39
Paul built this list to be exhaustive: death, life, present, future, height, depth, anything else in all creation. Grief is on it, whether it feels like it or not. A prayer for standing inside a love that your worst loss cannot evict you from.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
The prayer
Father, I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither grief nor despair, neither present pain nor future uncertainty, can separate me from Your love in Christ Jesus.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
