No More Tears

A prayer for grief, from Revelation 21:3-4

This is grief's actual ending, according to scripture: God moving in with his people, wiping every tear himself, and death and mourning going out of business for good. Not yet, and still certain. A prayer for holding a promise with a future date on it.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:3-4 (NIV)

The prayer

Lord, I long for the day when You wipe every tear from my eyes. No more death, mourning, crying, or pain. The old order will pass away. Until then, help me hold onto this hope.

Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
