New Every Morning
A prayer for grief, from Lamentations 3:22-23
These lines were written from inside a destroyed city, not a good season. Even there, the writer found something that renewed daily: compassions that never fail, new every morning. A prayer for surviving grief the only way anyone does, one morning at a time.
Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)
The prayer
Father, in my deepest grief, I am not consumed because of Your great love. Your compassions never fail—they are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness.
