Lead Me to the Rock
A prayer for grief, from Psalm 61:1-2
From the ends of the earth I call to you, as my heart grows faint: the psalmist prays from far away and almost out of strength. That's allowed. A prayer for being led somewhere higher and more solid than anything you can reach on your own today.
Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:1-2 (NIV)
The prayer
God, hear my cry! Listen to my prayer. My heart grows faint with grief. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I can reach on my own.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
