Eyes of the Heart
A prayer for grief, from Ephesians 1:18-21
There's a kind of blindness that comes with despair, where hope may exist but you can't see it from where you're standing. Paul prays for the eyes of the heart to be opened, which is exactly the equipment grief shuts down. A prayer for sight before circumstances change.
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. Ephesians 1:18-21 (NIV)
The prayer
Father, enlighten the eyes of my heart. Help me see beyond my grief to the hope to which You have called me. I have a glorious inheritance and incomparably great power available to me through faith.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
