Terror of Night

A prayer for fear & anxiety, from Psalm 91:5-6

Anxiety keeps a schedule: the 3am dread, the daytime jolt. This psalm names both, the terror of night and the arrow that flies by day, and answers each with the same shelter. A prayer for around-the-clock fear, met by an around-the-clock refuge.

You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness. Psalm 91:5-6 (NIV)

The prayer

Lord, I will not fear the terror of night or the arrow of anxiety that flies by day. You are my refuge and fortress. In You I trust.

Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
