Do Not Worry
A prayer for fear & anxiety, from Matthew 6:25-34
Jesus talks about worry using birds and wildflowers: fed and clothed without a single anxious hour of effort. Then the question that lands: are you not much more valuable? A prayer for letting tomorrow keep its own trouble, one day at a time.
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:25-34 (NIV)
The prayer
Father, You tell me not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. You feed the birds and clothe the flowers—how much more will You care for me? I seek first Your kingdom and trust You for everything else.
Make it yours: change any words that don’t fit, or stop at the one line that’s true today. Amen can wait until you mean it.
